Mark 10:45

Growth in Servanthood

Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” The more we grow in Christ Jesus, His likeness, leads to growth in servanthood, for Jesus came not to be served, but to serve. See the Saviour take a towel and wash His disciple’s feet; then hear Him say that His disciples are called to do the same John 13: 3-5, 14, 15.

The character of servanthood reveals devotion to the interests of others; the delight in others prosper and seeing the happiness of others besides ourselves. Servanthood is not slavery; it is voluntary motivated from within by the love of God. Christ Jesus chose to take the form of a servant Philippians 2:5-7 “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
